GROSSMONT GRIFFIN CENTER

The Grossmont Griffin Center is a complex adaptive re-use, LEED Silver certified hub of student activity at Grossmont College. The building contains food vendors, lounges, game room, bistro, retail, meeting rooms, Student Organization and Student Government Offices, Student Health, Culinary Arts, DSPS, EOPS, Job Placement and Student Affairs.

With no major campus center, many students felt that the college had lacked community since most would leave campus in between classes and would rarely have the opportunity to feel connected to the school and to other students. The Griffin Center promotes Grossmont College as a college for students to find success and build a community.

Major campus entry pathways through the center and a Paseo create a new hub of student activity. The lounges and dining areas are arranged in smaller groupings to ft both intimate and large social gatherings. activities are encouraged with connecting spaces though glass window walls.  Daylight is injected throughout the building with share spaces and clerestories. Vibrant colors, flexible furniture and rich looking materials make this a favorite place for students.
