San Diego Tijuana World Design Capital 2024 / Bay to Park Paseo

Architects Mosher Drew is proud to be apart of the rich design fabric of San Diego, which paired with Tijuana has been designated the World Design Capital 2024 as the first binational designation in the program’s history.

San Diego Tijuana 2024 is celebrating our cities’ commitment to human centered design and legacy of cross-border collaboration, so we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight amazing design, innovative collaborations, and exciting events. We are exhilarated to share this with you via email and social media throughout the year!

Architects Mosher Drew is currently in the works on a portion of the Bay to Park Paseo project, which connects the San Diego Bay to Balboa Park via Park Boulevard with interactive and impermanent pedestrian experiences spanning the 1.7 mile journey. We have teamed with Mike Stepner and Frank Wolden to create “Memories at the Midpoint” in Zone 6 of the Paseo. Stay tuned for the unveiling!

We associated with Breaktruck Films

We're thrilled to share some exciting news with you! For our 75th anniversary, we associated with Breaktruck Films, an awarded architectural film production company, to portrait part of our buildings in a small movie. And the result cannot be more awesome!

Architects Mosher Drew turns 75 years old

Having a history rich with distinct architecture and design, Architects Mosher Drew celebrates its 75th Anniversary this year.

May officially marks the 75 years since the inception of Architects Mosher Drew. In the year 1948, with a small office space in Green Dragon Colony, Robert Mosher and Roy Drew brought to San Diego the style of humanist modernism and with it started a dialogue about the architectural vision of the city. Over the decades, the firm has seen growth and has evolved to being an icon in the history of our cityscape. We honor the legacy by celebrating this special occasion in our timeline and salute this milestone. To commemorate this event, we present our reimagined logo that communicates the firm’s ownership, quality, and values.

We express gratitude towards the relationships we've built and recognize that the longevity of our firm stems from these partnerships that have made us what we are. With the idea of expressing our philosophies through design, our corporate culture is the manifestation of our core value that 'architecture is a shared endeavor'. These collaborative habits of thought and function permeate all levels of our work environment. We have enjoyed the honor of authoring numerous landmark projects in the Southern California region and we look forward to giving back to the community with many more such buildings and designs.

Congratulations to Bill!

Wishing a very happy retirement to Bill Magnuson, who recently welcomed the work-free days of his life. He has spent an incredible 30 years with Architects Mosher Drew. His contributions to our firm and the industry as a whole have been immeasurable. Bill's legacy will continue to inspire us all to create architecture that is both functional and beautiful, while also being environmentally responsible.

We will miss Bill's leadership and expertise, but we wish him all the best in whatever's next. Thank you, Bill, for your incredible time with Architects Mosher Drew. Your legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come.

Meet AMD’s New Talent!

The team at Architects Mosher Drew is growing. Welcome the four new bright minds to our office; Gerardo MacAlpin, Heather Tipton, Bhumi Gupta and Diane McClure. Celebrate their new beginnings with us!

Gerardo MacAlpin, Senior Project Director
With 35 years of experience, Gerardo is innovative and always willing to accept a challenge. With experience in both California and Mexico, he has a diverse portfolio designing and delivering facilities in varying contexts with a constant that each building must satisfy the needs of the client and the community. He has the skill to manage all critical aspects of a project through its design phases. Gerardo works with a determination to adhere to the budget, comply with the schedule, coordinate planning, track design progress, and deliver impeccable working drawings.

Bhumi Gupta, Marketing Coordinator
Taking up the role of Marketing Coordinator, Bhumi adds diversity to the mix. An architect by profession and an enthusiastic writer, she aspires to put words to expressions of architecture and design. Her education in the profession makes her keen to know and understand more as a professional. With an aim to take her career towards design, marketing, and research, she wants to make a valuable contribution to the AMD team with her opinions and viewpoints. As an avid reader and soulful artist, Bhumi enjoys adventure through the world of imagination in writing and design.

Diane McClure, Office Manager
Diane joins the AMD Team as the new Office Manager. She is an extremely motivated individual with a remarkable record of accomplishment spanning 15+ years in the accounting field. Having grown up in Ohio she has strong ties to the mid-west but has embraced the SoCal life since moving to San Diego in 2005. She loves spending time working in her yard, gardening, and doting on her husband and two fur babies. Her mantra is: Be silly, be weird, be yourself because life is too short to be anything but happy!

A Revitalized MiraCosta College Library!

Design revealed by Architects Mosher Drew in partnership with Level 10 Construction

Architects Mosher Drew is a partner in a Design-Build Entity with Level 10 Construction to renovate the Mira Costa College Oceanside Library and enhance the space to meet modern and technology rich learning environments. The new Learning Center design will focus on reimaging the collaboration tutoring centers to accommodate the growing number of students using these services. The renovation will also improve circulation, way finding, acoustics, availability of computer access and technology, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Architects Mosher Drew is working with Level 10 Construction on this progressive Design-Build project to create a multifaceted learning and resource center for MiraCosta and the surrounding community.

Alahe Aldo, Principal Architect
Over the last decade, Alahe has focused on creating exceptional academic spaces, with varied solutions exemplifying the cutting edge of 21st-century trends in campus function and education delivery. Her dedication to improving student life and enriching the quality of their environments is reflected in every project she leads. 

Eric Soldau, Principal Architect
Eric is the firm’s technical leader and quality assurance coordinator for all AMD projects. As a former educator and mentor, Eric’s practiced ability to exchange knowledge only increases the level of expertise of his team. His professionalism and energy inspire clients as well as his AMD colleagues.

Victor Navarro, Principal Architect
As a lead designer at AMD, Victor brings unique and thoughtful solutions to a wide array of projects. His expertise in federal, educational, civic and commercial projects over the last 20 years, has led to multifaceted experience on diverse building and construction typologies.

Peter Padilla, Associate

Pete is proficient in all aspects of a project from start to finish, as well as an expert in DSA, and agency review process. His attention to details and endeavor to be available on-site and to the contractor, results in excellent communication between the client, AMD and construction team.

Taylor Arnold, Associate

Taylor brings superior attention to graphic presentations and combines her artistic talent with an elevated level of expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM), design, and planning. Known for her determination and willingness to take action, Taylor is an invaluable contributor to so many components of the design process and its successful outcome at AMD. 

Ramiro Losada Amor, Associate

With more than 10 years of professional practice, Ramiro’s work represents thoughtful translation of programmatic requirements into high quality design solutions. He is especially skilled in the planning and integration of outdoor space and natural daylight resulting in creative, high-performing adaptable environments.
